Overview of the Ontario PNP In-Demand Occupation Stream

Job Offer from the Employer: OINP has an immigration stream called In-Demand Skills. It allows foreign employees who have a job offer in a high-demand occupation, such as construction, agricultural, haulage, or personal support work, to become permanent residents of the province.

As a skilled worker, you can apply from both inside and outside of Canada for this stream.

OINP employer job offer in-demand skills stream has mandatory requirements that the Applicant and Employer must meet

Applicant Requirements

Before you apply, you have to meet the following requirements in the below-mentioned factors:

  • Work Experience:
    You must have at least 9 months of full-time work experience (or its equivalent in part-time) in the same in-demand occupation as your job offer within three years of submitting your application to the province.

  • Valid license or other authorization (if applicable):
    If you have a job offer in an in-demand occupation requiring you to have a valid license or authorization, you must have them from the provincial regulatory body when you apply.

  • Language:
    Minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4.

  • Education:
    Must have at least a Canadian high school diploma or credential, or its equivalent (ECA - Educational Credential Assessment report is required).

  • Intention to Live in Ontario:
    You have to show your intention to live in the province.

Employer Requirements

To qualify under this stream, your employer must:

  • Have been in business for a minimum of three years before submitting your application.

  • Have business premises in Ontario where you will be working.

  • Have no pending orders made against them under the Ontario Employment Standards Act, 2000 or the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

  • Demonstrate that sufficient effort has been made to recruit a Canadian citizen or permanent resident before offering you the position (this only applies if you are currently living outside of Canada or working outside of Canada Ontario).

What is the application fee?

The application fee for OINP In-demand skills stream covers your application processing fee:

  • CAD 1,500 if the job offer is outside of Greater Toronto Area.

  • CAD 2,000 if the job offer is within the Greater Toronto Area (City of Toronto, Durham, Halton, York, and Peele region).
